Voices I Love from Sharon to Family and Friends
Tuesday, May 1, 2007

Voices of those I love are sweet to hear, of pleasing pattern and of soft design.

Because the words they say are for my ear, messages spoken from their hearts to mine.

Voices of those I love make melody-dear tunes, dear music, of the friendly word!

Sweeter and more beautiful to me than the summer singing of the mocking bird. Voices of those I love are warm as sun; and stream like sunshine straight into my heart.

They may to others seem but drab and dun-colored; to me by loves art. Perhaps the soul speaks to the ear. And mind to mind and heart to heart are drawn.

For in my inmost self I still can hear voices I love--long vanished and long gone.

I miss everyone so much, I would love a letter.

Weekend's Over
Sunday, May 6, 2007

I had a long weekend. No baby or Brittany on Friday, so I got to sleep late.

After I got up and had a leisurely cup of coffee and read the paper, I took a shower and dressed. Then I fixed bacon and tomato sandwiches for breakfast, washed up the dishes, did some laundry and straightened up a little.

I decided I'd go to the grocery store and pick up all the specials and run by the bank and sign some papers for the Wesleyan Women. Then I came home and kinda messed around the rest of the day. Actually, I finished one book and read another one. Then, my friend Margaret and I went to the North Theater to see the play, "Driving Miss Daisy". It was really good. I didn't have to pay because Douglas was stage manager and got a free ticket that he gave to me.

Sat. morning I got up bright and early and went to yard sales with Richard and Tommy. Got some good buys, too. A brand new pair of Sketchers for $2, a beautiful yellow blouse to go with my yardsale blazer from a couple of weeks ago, a wonderful pair of light weight dress pants (both of these items were $1 each) 16 books (25 cents) and a new Nordic ware bacon cooker for 50 cents. Also some odds and ends, but these were my best things.

Today I went to church and during the sermon, the preacher said that " church ought to be a place of comfort and a place to hear the word of God, not a place that tries to put you down or make you feel out of place". There was a little boy about 2 1/2 sitting a couple of rows ahead of me and he was listening intently (or appearing to) and when the preacher said that (above) I heard a little tiny "Amen" come out of his mouth. It was so sweet.

New Journal
May 30, 2007

After several weeks of trying to log on to my other web page (pitas.com), I finally found this site so I hope I can get back on track with my journal entries. I really don't know what happened to the other one and I hope this one will be easy to get to.I'm wondering if I can transfer all my old entries to this one? If anyone knows how, let me know. Now that I'm here, my mind just went blank! Totally!!Oh, well, if this works I'll really write something tomorrow. Promise!

Catching Up, Again
May 31, 2007

I thought I had everything covered with my new journal and sent the address to the ones who read it sometime. However, and I don't know why, none of them could access it. Cindy could, tho. So I sent the address to them again using the message I sent Cindy. Maybe it'll work this time. If not, I guess Cindy will be my sole reader.

I went to Reubens with Emily tonight to eat supper and we were talking about stuff and I told her that it was terrible when yardsales on Sat. were the highlight of my week. But, I love to find books I haven't read that I've wanted to read and it's so nice to get a bunch of them for 10 cents each. Which is what I did last week. The usual yardsale price is 25 cents for paperback and either 50 cents or a dollar for hardbacks. I think this lady was desperate to finish up, therefore all the books were ten cents. I bought all she had!!

Coby, the baby I sit is really growing up. He's pulling up and standing alone, but he gets so excited that he forgets what he's doing and all of a sudden, he's down on his fat bottom. He can hold his own bottle when I put him down and loves being down on the floor. He also loves Tiger, the cat.

Brittany is almost ready for kindergarten. She's also funny sometimes. Last week, Adam, Coby's dad, told me he'd come over and put my storm door back up.(The wind had taken it down a couple of weeks ago). He was out there working on it, wearing shorts, and Brittany was sitting in the swing watching. Now, Adam had been shot while deer hunting a couple of years ago and it messed his legs up pretty bad. He has long scars, skin grafts and well, pretty awful looking places on his legs, but he is so lucky to be walking around and working. He told me later that after a while Brittany came over to him and asked what was wrong with his legs and could she see them. He showed her all the scars and told her what had happened. He said she looked and looked and finally in a very serious voice said,"Well, a little more and you'd be hopping around here like de Easter bunny." He said it was all he could do to keep a straight face.
