Cindy's acting debut - 2/14/04
I just got back from the Dance Space where Cindy made her acting debut. She was really good!!! I was so surprised. Doug had told me that she was good, but she kept on saying that she always messed up or something else derogatory about her acting ability. It was a really funny one act play and then they had dancing and their version of The Newly Wed Game. That was really funny, too. I saw Douglas dance and he surprised me with his grace on the dance floor. All the ladies wanted to dance with him. I think I'm gonna go and take a few dance lessons myself and then go to some of the dance parties they have. I think it'll be fun and something to do sometimes. I got some new pj pants for Valentines and some candy, money and some cards. All in all, it was a very nice Valentines Day. Since I didn't get any romance, I think I'll go pig out on chocolate!!!!!! Good, huh?? Sometimes - 3/08/04
Sometimes I am afraid that you might go away.....
This and That - 3/14/04 Yesterday I went to my first yardsale of the season. When I wasn't freezing, I had a pretty good time. Bought a couple of books and a couple of games for the playstation. One was a benefit for a cancer victim and I really didn't see anything I wanted to buy, so I donated what I would have spent... we ran into Tommy and Richard at one and saw several regulars from lots of summers past. Saw the "honey man" but that's another story. Tonight we practiced the Easter contata.....some of the songs are so pretty.....especially the one Tommy sings. He really sings good. I hope we have a good crowd to see/hear it on April 4th at Emmanuel Wesleyan.I saw the funniest movie on HBO last night..or at least half of it. I think it was called A Mighty Roaring Wind...had lots of folk singers in it and I had to explain to Emily what folk singers were, since all she knows is this modern stuff. Guess I'm getting old, but I enjoyed hearing songs and being able to understand what was being said!
Late Night
Well, here it is nearly 2:30am and I haven't been to bed yet and I have to get up at 7 so I can take the kids to see Sharon. I had babies all day and then Chad and Rachel stayed to wait for Tommy and Rebecca (Sarah went to a school dance and Chad didn't want to go), and then Emily came in with her back pack to spend the night. She hasn't been to see Sharon in about a year and she wanted to go with us....besides, SHE has a cell phone. But, I'm really not that tired... Tommy and I watched a movie on HBO called Buddy, about a gorilla. Well, actually, Tommy went to sleep long before it was over. But while he was awake we wondered if that was really a trained animal or a person, cause the other chimps were really chimps. Well, when the credits rolled, there were about 6 or 7 guys who played Buddy. Very interesting!! Tami is supposed to come tomorrow and we're supposed to go to the Dance Space to see Douglas perform. The girls are going skating and Ron might take the three little kids for a while. We'll see out it all works out. Well, I need to hit the bed and get some shut eye..... Good Night all
Saturday Night Review of the Day
We got an early start and got to Charlottesville about 12:15. We had a nice visit...Sharon had gotten a curly perm since we saw her last. She looked real pretty....still trim and slim. We stopped at the Magnolia Cafe to eat lunch and Tommy ordered the fried catfish platter. I'm not kidding, he got enought to feed four!!! He ate part of it and I ate a piece and Emily ate a piece and there was still a bunch left. Along with the fish, he got onion rings, hush puppies, and slaw.
Now the kids are at the skating rink with Susan and Ron. I'm thinking Ron might take the little kids home early, but the big kids want to skate til the end. That's 1 PM!!!!!!
Well, I've kinda fizzled out.....my thinker won't think, so I'll just say good night for now. Monday, March 22, 2004
Brrring.........the alarm goes off at 6:45. Have to get up in time to listen to "Swing Shift", a show that plays really good, old music. While I listen, I sip my coffee and read over my Sunday School lesson one last time. I don't even open my Sunday paper, it's saved for evening. Now it's time to get the kids up for church, which is no small job. Up from the bed, just to curl up on the sofa while I make grilled cheese sandwiches and milky coffee for them. I get ready and leave them plenty of bathroom time....but when I'm ready to go out the door so I won't be late, one doesn't have shirt or shoes on, and the other is standing there just gazing into the mirror and they move only when I holler, "I'm leaving now, if you're coming, come on"!
After church we all change clothes, they either get on the computer or watch TV and I start dinner. Today we have to get dinner over early because I have to take the kids back to Stoneville and get back to Danville by 5:00 so I can practice the Easter contata. Get back, change clothes, pick up Emily, and get to church 5 minutes late......every body else is already there! Hilarious practice.....good solo number by one member. Sermon.....then another practice. This time we practiced the walking in....all the songs, the monologues, the duets. I think it went pretty well considering a couple of the songs were just given to us. After about one and a half hours, we called it quits for the day.
After taking one choir member home, Emily and I came back to my house, where she promptly ate a plate full of food and used half a bottle of Ranch dressing on her salad. I was trying to get the bedroom where she slept half way straight so it would be ready for Brittany at 6:30 on Monday morning.
Finally Friday
Well, after an extra long week (or so it seems) Friday finally came. And today was extra long! Maybe because two babies weren't picked up until 4:30 and I had an invitation to eat supper that I didn't have to cook. Well, we finally got going about 5:30. Susan had invited me to eat with her and her kids at Reubens and since we got a late start, it was a little crowded. We didn't have to wait, however, because a couple was leaving just as we got there and we only had to wait for the waitress to clear the table. I had been wanting a "store bought" cheeseburger for a long time so that's what I ordered along with a bowl of the best vegetable soup ever. I shared Susan's fries because the waitress forgot Chads and I gave him mine. it was so GOOD!!!!! Emily and a couple of my other grandkids have started "picking" me out men when ever we go out somewhere. First, it was only the girls, but last weekend when I took Tommy somewhere, he was even looking for me a man! Emily tried to point out a couple tonight, but I think they were already taken. Maybe one day....... After we ate, we went by to see Marie for a while. The kids wanted to see her dogs and they did, but, the dogs weren't in a social mood, so they just sat on Marie's lap and sorta growled and yipped until Tony took them into the bedroom. I think they're not used to little folks. I think what I like best about Friday is that it is the day before Saturday, my very favorite day of the week. Don't get me wrong, I like Sunday until it gets to be Sunday night and then all I can think about is the fact that when I get up again, it'll be Monday and Monday is my least favorite day of the week. How about you? Any favorites?
What Happened?
I had nearly finished my entry about my "lost weekend" and all of a sudden, with the click of one little key...it disappeared! Maybe somebody was telling me that it wasn't worth reading. I wanted to tell about the merger vote. It passed with a vote of 26 to 1. And no, the one no vote wasn't mine. It was a little lady who goes to Gethsemane.
I'm thinking that maybe when the merger plan was explained by the District Supt., the people believed that we had a better chance of getting a new church in the very near future. He said that BOTH churches would be put on the market at the same time....which is only fair. Anyway, I think that God has plans for us in a different building and soon! Every body seemed to be pleased with the results of the vote so I'm hoping for the best. The rest of the weekend....Saturday and Sunday afternoon went by so fast that I fell like I didn't really have one. Our Easter Cantata ( thanks to those who so subtly pointed out my misspelling) is going well. I think by Sunday, we'll know all the songs. All the monologues have been memorized and the solos are nearly perfect. Now all we really need is to practice our sitting and standing and our entrance and exit. Yall are all invited to the last performance at Emmanuel! What I Would Do
What I would do if I didn't need to watch babies to make ends meet.....and then they still don't. For starters, I would sleep late....at least til 8AM. Then I would have a leisurely shower instead of a rush, rush, rush one. Next would come a long cup of coffee as I slowly read the newspaper. There would be no stopping to pull the crust off a slice of bread for one baby or tearing up a slice for the other one who was awake. The one who comes early is sleeping...that is unless somebody wakes her on the way out the door. Then I would do a few chores.....taking my time, naturally. Then I would eat breakfast, clean up my mess, get dressed and if the weather was nice, I would spend some time in the yard, doing much needed yard work. After that, I would do a few more household chores, put on some makeup, and go somewhere........Anywhere! Maybe to visit someone, or to the store or the mall. If the weather was bad, I would light my fireplace(candles) and find a good book and read all day, stopping only to snack on something that didn't interfere with my reading. I would call my daughters and have long conversations that weren't punctuated by insistent cries because someone was not the center of my attention. As afternoon approached, I would make plans to go somewhere and actually be able to go at the given time. Then when I came home, I would have supper, maybe watch TV, check my e-mail, just do whatever I wanted, because all my evening chores would have been done in the morning. Does this not sound like an ideal way to spend the day? It sure does to me!! |
