This 'n That 9/10/02
So much to do, so little time....... seems like we all are always hurrying here and there, doing this and doing that, cleaning this and cleaning that. Will it even matter tomorrow or next week or next year? We all need to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the sky at sunset or the bright cresent moon and the star hanging right under it. Look again at your sleeping child and marvel at how great God is to create something so perfect. Tell your spouse you love them and need them. Tell your friend how much you appreciate him/her. Tell your siblings that you love them. Go visit your parents or your grandma and grandpa. Smile at a stranger and say hello. Remember that we aren't promised tomorrow and make the most of today. I love all of you who read my ramblings. Have a good tomorrow!
Latest on Church Cat 9/10/02
Well, the black cat is still in the church. It has had ample opportunity to escape, but I really think it likes being a church cat. After all, it hears good music, preaching, and a Sunday School lesson and doesn't even have to get up and get ready for church. But, I think being in the dark is taking a toll on it's fur. At first it had two bald spots right above it's eyes. Now it has several on it's body and it 's looking kinda scraggly. What to do? It howls for food but runs off and hides if you try to pick it up. I left the door open for a long time the other day but he wouldn't venture near it. I have to go feed him again tomorrow and I'll try again to get him out. I do think he would be better off out in the fresh air instead of in the basement with the crickets. I'm afraid being in the dark is causing him to pull his fur out. Do cats do that?? Any suggestions on out to entice him out?
The End of the Cat Tale 9/19/02
Last Thursday I went to church and took cat food and for the first time the cat didn't come yowling out to greet me. I left food and fresh water, but I was hoping that he had gotten out and was on the outside. This past Tuesday, Richard and I went down there to get chairs out to take to the parsonage. When he opened the basement door, we could smell something bad. We looked but couldn't find him, so we got our chairs and left. When I got home I called the preacher and left a message on his answering machine about the cat. He went down there yesterday and found it. We had looked under the stuff in the basement, but he had climbed up on top od the table that had tools and junk on it and had somehow got tangled up in plastic and suffocated. Glen got him out and got rid of him , but I still wish he hadn't been so nosy. I guess curiosity really killed the cat!
Doodling 10/01/02
Where does time go? Seems like we were just starting to enjoy spring and now its October. Next we'll be having cold and maybe sleet and snow and I really don't like it. All our flowers are gone and whats left just look weedy. But what to do about the ones outside in pots that have to be brought in? Nights are getting cooler.....good sleeping weather when you have to pull that ole blanket up over your feet cause they're getting cold. Went to the store to get chicken breast to make chicken salad and of course, they were out. But I bought steak and had that and baked potatoes and salad for supper. Super good!! At least to me. Now I want to cook something sweet, but don't have ingredients for anything. Took lots of trash out and put in dumpster.....I like it when its just been emptied and I can fill it about half full. Made cheese straws and spinach dip Sat. night for Pastor Glen's B'day party on Sunday. All the cheese straws got gone but only the folks from our church ate the dip. They don't know what they missed. Had babies for last two days. Today neither of them slept more than 20 minutes put together. I hope tomorrow is better or else I might have to find a new occupation. It's amazing what you can'r get done when you have 2 of the lil darlings who want constant attention. I didn't go to the bathroom from 7:55 'til 3:45. Boy, if any of my seven had been twins, I don't think I'd be here now!!!! I'm trying to find something good to read when I have time......anybody have any suggestions?
Moments to Remember 11/13/02
Summer of 59.....cookout down in Mama's back yard. Aunt Lillie sitting in one of the old metal yard chairs, drinking a beer and singing "We'll Have These Moments to Remember" when all of a sudden, the chair tilted backwards over the bank and spilled her into the lower garden. Our first trip to the beach with kids! We also took Richard with us and early one morning Richard and I got up early and went for a walk on the beach and walked in and out of rain squalls. Visiting Geraldine in Portsmouth and having such a good time sitting around talking and drinking coffee and hating having to leave to come back home. Having the phone ring and hear a voice from the past and ending up talking for three hours to someone you haven't seen or heard from for 40 years. A hug from a grandchild and a kiss on the cheek and a little voice saying "I love you, G'ma". An answered prayer.
